Results are immediate. You need the full legal name and date of birth. Each alias or maiden name is a separate $10 search. ICHAT does not include traffic offenses, minor misdemeanors, juvenile records, federal court cases, or records sealed under Michigan's Clean Slate law.

Genesee County Court Records
The Genesee County Courthouse is in Flint. The County Clerk's Office handles circuit court records for the 7th Circuit Court. For the most current contact details, call the main Genesee County number or check the Michigan Courts directory. For online case lookups, use the free MiCOURT system at micourt.courts.michigan.gov. Filter by Genesee County. Search by name, case number, or attorney. Genesee County may have specialized courts given its size, including drug courts and mental health courts. These cases also appear in MiCOURT. Standard copy fees apply: $2.00 per page for regular copies, $10.00 for the first page of a certified copy plus $1.00 for each additional page. Mail requests require a written description of the case by name or case number, a self-addressed stamped envelope, and payment by check or money order.
Additional Public Records Databases
The Michigan Department of Corrections OTIS system at michigan.gov/corrections is a free database of current and recently released prisoners, parolees, and probationers under state supervision. For a large county like Genesee, OTIS provides useful context alongside ICHAT. Records remain in OTIS for about 3 years after the end of supervision. This search is free.

Michigan's Freedom of Information Act, 1976 PA 442, gives the public the right to request Genesee County government records that are not court files. The county must respond within 5 business days. It can extend this up to 15 more days if it sends written notice explaining the delay. Under MCL 15.234, agencies may charge for copy and mailing costs but not for determining whether to release records. Denials must be in writing with reasons stated.
