County Clerk Suzanne Kanine and the 57th Circuit Court staff manage all court records for Emmet County. The clerk's office is at 200 Division Street in Petoskey. Phone is (231) 348-1744. Hours run Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The office provides notary public services within those hours for a $10 county filing fee.

The 57th Circuit Court is presided over by Judge Jennifer Deegan. The Circuit Court Administrator is Kimberly Sweebe, and the Deputy Administrator is Sonya Wells. Court Referee Kyle Legel handles motions related to parenting time, child support, and custody. A Recovery Court program operates for substance abuse cases with coordinator Alyssa Harrold.

An important note about how this court accepts filings: the 57th Circuit Court does not accept pleadings by email or fax. All documents must be filed in person or by mail. If you want to participate in a hearing remotely, you must submit a Notice of Hearing with Remote Participation Form and a Contact Information Form at least 3 business days before the hearing.
